Distance Learning Services
Generic Conferencing provides hosted distance learning solutions for colleges, universities and other schools. Generic Conferencing's Distance Learning Services are based on BigBlueButton (www.bigbluebutton.org), an open-source tool designed from the ground up distance learning.
By using Generic Conferencing, you save bandwidth and have a fully redundant installation. Your students and instructors can connect to audio portion the virtual classroom with a computer headset or via telephone. Generic Conferencing's multiple data centers and redundant systems mean you never have to reschedule a class due to a server failure or network outage.
The BigBlueButton client runs within Flash, which is universally available on Mac, Unix and PC computers, as well as many hand-held devices. If your students can watch YouTube, they can participate in a remote class with BigBlueButton.
Since BigBlueButton is open source software, customers are free to install and manage their own servers. For assistance with this, please visit our partner, Blindside Networks, the company who originated the BigBlueButton project and provides remote support and monitoring for BigBlueButton servers.
Our Distance Learning Services integrate with popular Learning Mangement Systems (LMS) such as Moodle and Sakai. There are also plugins for Joomla, Drupal and Mambo for customers who have created their own management systems.
Pricing for Generic Conferencing's Distance Learning Services is based on the number of concurrent on-line classes and the maximum number of students per class.
